WELCOME TO SAVVY STITCHING. . .
My mother taught me to sew when I was 8 years old. Believe me when I say I would have rather been outside playing ball with my brothers and neighborhood kids than sewing. I was quite the “tom-boy” when I was younger.
I was a 4-H member for about 10 years and every year entered sewing projects in the County Fair. When I was 16 I won the “Make It with Wool” contest for our county and went to the State Fair. I thought that was a really big deal back then.
In high school I had a fantastic Home Economics teacher. When I was a senior I spent 4 hours a day there as we couldn’t leave the campus like kids can now days.
Eventually I became a sample maker for a well known clothing manufacturer. I worked very hard through the years and became a technical designer. I was a Senior Technical Designer when the company was moved out of state. During my years there, I interacted with many different departments and saw the product from a conceptual sketch all the way to the finished garment the consumer sees in the store.
Having all of those wonderful experiences in my past I decided to create SAVVY STITCHING so I could continue to use my creative ideas. Purses/totes are my main product, but I also make other items for sale such as quilts, travel curling iron cases, travel jewelry cases and quilted Christmas stockings. I also do custom orders on one of a kind things for example; cushions, garments, special utility bags. I also do alterations and hemming for anyone in my area. |
